I’m failing to make inroads on Medium
The graphic above shows my views here on Medium over the past 30 days. It makes for grim viewing.
The solitary spike in views, the veritable skyscraper that towers above all the other buildings on the skyline, my best performing day of the entire month, totalled eighteen views. That’s a paltry return for the effort I have expended in writing a story a day. It puts me in mind of the old joke about the fellow whose home-grown leeks were so puny, he took them to the annual show in his shirt pocket.
The Copywriting Landscape
I cut my copywriting teeth when I edited a punk music fanzine back in the days when cut and paste meant scissors and a glue stick. There was no money in that; it ran at a loss, but I did it for the love of producing something worthwhile.
I moved on to better things (financially) when I was commissioned to write articles for a London-based management training company. I produced over 200 articles there, working to tight deadlines, so I became familiar with writing under pressure.
After that, I moved on to producing web copy for a whole host of sites, on topics that ranged from Indian head massage to ocean drum therapy, via pigeon control. All in, I think it’s safe to say that I know my way around…
