I’ve Broken My Medium Viewing Stats Record

But not in a good way

I’m burning the midnight oil here. I’d been writing an article when I noticed the time, so I decided to check my stats for the day, and they made for utterly miserable reading. I have over 100 stories out there, and over 350 followers, but never the twain shall meet, or at least that’s how it feels. For my views for today are identical to those for yesterday. TWO!

I’ve seen absolutely no improvement in my stats, but rather a decline. It is becoming increasingly difficult for me to find the motivation to spend time writing and editing a piece, only for it to be read by a couple of people.

Financial Rewards

I could see better financial rewards doing things that require far less effort. For example, I can earn a quick five bucks reading and responding to fifteen articles on Vocal Media. But I don’t particularly wish to do that. I love writing, and I believe myself to be fairly good at the craft.

I’m also thick-skinned enough not to take all this negativity to heart and cry off. I’ve got a lot left in the tank before that happens. But if a more worthwhile proposition comes along, well, my head could be turned.
