I love Medium, but . . .

over recent days (My own graphic)

I’ve published over a hundred stories on Medium, and my stats chart barely makes it into double figures each day. This is very disheartening, but I persist. I have also started reposting some of my Medium stories on Vocal Media, and I have to say the response there has been much more encouraging.

The main plus point for me is that, as the graphic above demonstrates, I can see real, tangible progress in my stats; a definite upward shift, while on Medium my views never once hit even double figures over the past week. This is what I have been hoping for on Medium all the time — just some sort of progress that would foster renewed encouragement within me. I have definitely found that on Vocal. Here’s why.

Looked Encouraging

When I first set out on Medium, things looked encouraging. I saw small upward increments in my views, and my stats chart peaked at 49 views in a day, Then I had a problem with an earnings freeze, which was my fault, but which put my input on hold for a few weeks. Since my return, I haven’t been able to gain that kind of traction.

The high point on my Vocal chart is for 54 reads, so with only a dozen or so posts, I have already bettered my all-time daily view count across 100 posts on Medium. This is precisely the kind of progress I’d hoped…
