Actually, the child in question is my grandson, but the bit about the ducking stool actually happened. I used to be editor of a magazine for local SureStart centres, and in that I did a spoof column on parenting skills, featuring a fictitious couple and their son, Edmund. I revisited it and updated the piece for Medium.
